Four Months to Go...How Close Are We to Achieving Our Goals?

By Governor Dick McCall

As I sit and write the articles for the July Kiwanian, I wonder where the time has gone.  We have less than four months left in this administrative year.  Now is the time for club presidents, Lt. Governors, and our executive team to check on how we are progressing on the goals we set last August.

One of the most essential goals, to the well-being of our district, is membership.  My challenge to each member was to bring in a new member, work on a project, and attend a district function.  This would qualify each individual Kiwanian for the

A.I.M. award.

Step two of membership is new club building.  As of June 10, we have made great progress in Paola, Gardner, and Hesston.  Now we need the help of all Kiwanians to complete the task of chartering these new clubs.  If you can lend any assistance to Lois Osborn, Gary Grose, or Scott Wedel, please let me or a member of our T.A.G. team know ASAP!  Or better yet, call one of the  Kiwanians listed.

When you are reading this article, we are in Hawaii or have just returned from the International Convention and have elected Rusty Thomas to the KI Board!!  Rusty’s team is very optimistic as we prepare for Hawaii.  Attendees will be sporting special t-shirts to support and celebrate Rusty’s election.  “Rustee for Trustee!”  Has a nice ring to it, right!

Last month, I wrote a letter to each club president asking for help.  We are asking for support from the grass roots to raise money.  We have four strategies for these funds: governor’s rescue fund, special projects from clubs, fun/casino night at the annual meeting in Salina, and cash giveaway to three lucky Kiwanians or clubs.  To date, I have received about $300 for the rescue fund.  We will be finalizing plans for the fun/casino night and the cash giveaway when we meet in Hawaii.  This will give us two months to put these two special fund raisers into the final stages.

You will also find in this Kiwanian an article about the World Link program.  Please take the time to thank those clubs who supported this project.
