Heed the Call of Salina This Summer!

By Shelby Stacy, Kansas District Office

Salina is calling you. Are you ready? The Kansas District Annual Convention is being held at the Salina Holiday Inn this year and area Kiwanians and District officers have been busy preparing for your visit.

This year’s convention theme is Let’s All Play TAG– Together Achieving Growth! TAG is the latest program from Kiwanis International to promote new club building. Has your division been tagged yet? Come and find out how to increase your membership while building new clubs in your area. Check who your TAG Team Members are on page 4.

The call of the convention is a wild one this year with the Friday night family activity. A picnic will be held at Rolling Hills Wildlife Museum. Housing one of the largest full mount animal collections in the world, Rolling Hills offers a learning experience for the whole Kiwanis clan. Families will be able to transcend time and space when they visit an African research tent, a Yukon mining village and a Middle East marketplace.

For guests of convention attendees, Lindsborg is your place to be. This year’s Guest’s Tour will feature the Swedish culture of Lindsborg. Unlike past years, the Guest Tour will be an all day affair and will include a visit to the Wild Dalas of Lindsborg, the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery of Art, lunch at Irene’s Tea Room and plenty of time for shopping Lindsborg’s unique downtown.

On Saturday night, immediately following the Governor’s Banquet, we will hold a Casino Carnival. Kiwanians will be able to test their Vegas skills while raising money for the Kansas District operating fund.

With so many activities, how can you not heed the call of Salina?
