World Link Needs You!
By Governor Dick McCall
New Kiwanians in new Kiwanis nations need Kiwanis fellowship! Introducing Kiwanis to a new community, region, or nation, can be an exciting occasion, but it also can be a challenge. Often, a new club is built a great distance from existing clubs. It has no true sponsor to: advise the new Kiwanians about club operations, assist them with membership issues, share Kiwanis friendship, purchase charter gifts, and help the new club survive.
Through the World Link Program, an existing Kiwanis club can help build a new club and establish a lasting, mutually rewarding Kiwanis partnership.
This is the basic premise of the World Link program. The Kansas District now has thirteen World Link sponsors! Our goal in August was a dozen. I’m still hopeful that we can have another two clubs step forward before the end of the year. I have been in contact with some club presidents who are still considering this project.
A sponsorship costs a club $350 out of the service account or $175 if two clubs choose to co-sponsor. We have 11 full sponsors and 2 co-sponsorships—this means that we have had 15 clubs make the commitment to participate in this very special effort.
I have purchased a special banner to recognize the World Link sponsors. It will be unveiled in Hawaii at the headquarters hotel and will have a special place of honor in Salina.
