Preparing for the New Year

Convention Time is here!!!  International Convention is history, now it is time to plan to attend the District Convention in Junction City.  See the REGISTRATION FORM in the last two Kiwanians and this issue.

 

This is also the time of the year when the new Division Lt. Governors and new club officers are learning about their duties, responsibilities and planning for the upcoming administrative year.  We have a great team of Lt. Governors willing, ready, and capable of providing assistance as needed.  Clubs should not hesitate to call on them.

 

    New Lt. Governors

 

·             Contact new club president and offer to install new officers

    Complete the “Things to Do List” each month

    Appoint division committees

    Plan September or early October Education / Division Council meeting

    Start Planning for Governor’s Official Visit

 

Current Lt. Governors

·         Meet with new Lt. Governor

·         Encourage all clubs to have three delegates at the District Annual Meeting

·         Encourage clubs to complete Annual Report by October 15

·         Assure each club submits the International Distinguished and District Outstanding Report.

 

New President and Secretary

    Appoint committees and finalize your “Team”

    Provide committee expectations or description of committee

    Provide education for club officers and Board of Directors

    Attend District Convention as a delegate

    Work with current officers in completion of year reports

 

    Current President and Secretary

    Assist new officers in their transition

    Submit delegates forms and memorial forms to District Office

    Attend and encourage club members to attend the District Convention

Complete the clubs goals in the next three months.

The 2005-06 Kiwanis Administrative year is nearing completion.  Now is the time to begin the process of identifying members for individual recognition and to gather information for club recognition.

 

CLUB LEADERS:

Member Recognition:  The Kansas District and Kiwanis International has several recognition programs for members.  (And who doesn’t like to be recognized for their efforts?)

 

a.       James W. Putnam Award, Kansas Kiwanis Foundation Life Member and others.  Criteria on Page 25 of the 2005-06 Club Leadership Education (CLE) 101 booklet.  Submit to Kansas Kiwanis Foundation Secretary/Treasurer.

b.      Kiwanis International Distinguished Member – the criteria is very attainable.  The report form is on Page 3 of the 2005-06 CLE 101 booklet.  (Note:  the form has a typing error in the first line.  It should read 2005-06 not 2004-05.)  Submit to 2005-06 Division Lt Governor by October 15, 2006.

·         Recruit two or more new members

·         Attend both mid-winter and district convention

·         Participate in two (2) or more service projects

 

c.  George F. Hixson Fellowship, Tablet of Honor,        Heritage Society, and KIF Life Member criteria            are on Page 25 of the 2005-06 CLE 101 book        let.  Submit per instructions in appropriate KIF brochure or application form.

 

Kiwanis International Distinguished Club and Rebuilding a Small Club Recognition:  Complete the forms and submit according to the instructions.  Forms are on Page 3 and 5 of the 2005-06 CLE 101 booklet.  Submit to 2005-06 Division Lt. Governor by October 15, 2006.

 

LT. GOVERNORS:

Recognition Forms:  After receipt from clubs, review and promptly submit the above reports to Governor Fajen.  Follow directions on the forms.

 

Young Children: Priority One Nomination:  Submit nominations to District YCPO Chair Pam Fajen by October 15, 2006.
