Does your club have an historian? Let's begin this Kiwanis year initiating or continuing with a record of each club event. In order to preserve Kansas Kiwanis, keeping the club/division information in a notebook, binder or scrapbook is a must. This would include photos, local newspaper clippings, club newsletters, any programs or flyers used for fundraising events, installations, exciting featured speakers, Young Children Priority One and Community Service projects, etc. Remember to use your local news media to keep the community aware of all Kiwanis does.
At the January Mid-Winter Conference and August Convention wouldn't it be interesting to have a "show and tell" table to check out club scrapbooks from across the state and see what they're doing? Why not bring them to Division meetings? There is no right or wrong in creating the memory pages. You might want to jazz it up, be ultra conservative, or go somewhere in between. Any method you choose to use and it looks good to you, then it is right. If you are in a quandary with where to begin, check out 'scrap booking' on any search engine where you will find scores of ideas. And I am always amazed at the creativeness of our children and grandchildren.
As District Historian, Governor John has charged me with creating a District scrapbook. I need your help beginning now! I hope to have a really thick notebook by January. If all Kiwanians would PLEASE e-mail/mail me copies of photos and items mentioned above, with pertinent information, it will be greatly appreciated. But please don't wait until the end of December to do so. Also, there are times when attachments will not open and if so I will request a mailing. I will be honored and anxious to include whatever is sent.
I look forward to seeing Kansas Kiwanis come alive on the memory book pages......let's get going!
