Kansas City Metro Helps Katrina Kids
The Kansas City Kiwanis Club members participated in a metro wide drive to help the children who have suffered because of Hurricane Katrina.
The Kansas City Club is one of 29 Kiwanis Clubs in the greater Kansas City area who are participating in the “Kiwanis for Katrina’s Children, “drive” to raise money.
A public fund raising effort at the businesses in the Village West Complex the weekend of the NASCAR races on October 7 and 8 was conducted. Donations were collected at the stores of Cabela’s, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Famous Dave’s BBQ, Mc Brides Irish Pub and Cheeseburger in Paradise.
Junction City to the Rescue
When the word got around Junction City that the Salvation Army was not going to ring bells last Christmas, it became apparent that many of the ministries paid for by the Bell Ringing were not going to be funded. The Junction City and the Junction City South Kiwanis Clubs took leadership in the bell ringing program, and raised $11,000 for the ministries in Junction City.
A President’s Request
Mike Engel, President, Kiwanis Club of Hays
Such is the sweet exchange between the poet and the readers
I leave you this, my first poem, my notes, and fleeting gestures
And hopefully an affectionate and soulful participation of my lyric exchange
To all Kiwanians, my comrades so dear
Use these notes to raise your thoughts and bring new ideas
While you must only listen for just one short year
Here! Take it all for yours to do
From my poems,
My gentle thoughts to you
My dearest of peers
Wherever you may be,
I provide my true self, if only for this year!
