Hard Work and Motivation are Key to District Success

By John Fajen, Governor-Elect

John Fajen, Manhattan Solar Club, will serve as the Kansas District Governor for the 2005-2006 Administrative Year. At the Installation Ceremony at the District Convention, Fajen shared his vision for the coming year.  The emphasis will be on the individual member -- what can the District do to support its members while they are working on behalf of the children of Kansas?

Rather than wearing a shirt and tie, Fajen sported his work shirt, the shirt that KI President-Elect Steve Siemens gave to him.  “We are going to roll up our sleeves and get some work done,” said Fajen.  “We are going to build some clubs and build membership.”  Fajen knows that members hear District leaders encourage club building every year; but he is determined.  “If we don’t do it now, when will it happen?  You are going to hear motivation, motivation, motivation.  We are talking membership, but we are really talking service.  We have to have members to serve.’

“Be prepared! This is the team!  This is the year!  We’re going to work and we are going to have fun.  We’re going to have awards, we’re going to recognize success.  We will utilize the K-University.  We will implement the new 1-2-3 membership program to grow our District.   Kiwanians will earn a gold key for each new member recruited.  At the 2006 International Convention, those wearing the gold key will be treated as VIPs.”

And the incoming Governor recognized his wife, Pam.  “You may notice that I have a partner who works with me.  I encourage each of you to find a partner to work with you.  If you can’t find one at home, find one in the neighborhood.  Get a partner and work together.  It’s a lot more fun when you have a partner,.  So, let’s have a GREAT year!”
